Sophie's Covid-19 Getaway

Talented Children

This talented 11 year old artist had to stay home when her school closed its doors because of the Covid-19 pandemic. She described the process she used in creating this amazing work of art as one of simply selecting several bright colors and then blending them together. 

The spontaneous use of a creative art during times of crisis is one of several resiliency characteristics that we see in certain children and adults. Some of a culture's greatest artwork, music, drama, and other long-lasting treasures were created by people like Sophie who were able to take that emotional energy generated by worry, frustration, anger, disappointment and other uncomfortable feeling and use it to create and contribute something of lasting value.
